Individual Disability Income Protection

Grant Thornton offers additional LTD benefits to employees providing income protection for earnings of $150,000 or more. The Individual Disability Income (IDI) Insurance offered through Guardian allows you to purchase individual disability income insurance to enhance the basic Lincoln Financial LTD plan benefit. This benefit protects a greater portion of your income, with limited underwriting.

Group LTD: Lincoln Financial Group provides a 60% income replacement for the first $150,000 of annual earnings.

IDI: MassMutual / Guardian IDI provides a 65% income replacement for the next $276,900 of annual earnings.
*Mass Mutual was the IDI carrier prior to Guardian. All new IDI policies will be underwritten by Guardian. Previously issued Mass Mutual policies continue in force unless canceled by the policyholder.

Guardian (IDI) Program Highlights

• Up to $15,000 of monthly benefit available, depending on earnings level and other coverage
• Guaranteed Standard Issue (GSI) – enrollment limited to a few questions with no medical exam for eligible employees who are actively at work.
• 35% off Guardian’s standard unisex rates and premiums remain level to age 65.
• A 360 day elimination period.
• Portable Coverage: If you leave Grant Thornton, you can maintain your coverage at the same discounted rate.
• Non-cancellable to age 65 (subject to timely premium payments).
